Description

In today's landscape, college students can experience varying extenuating circumstances during their academic journey. The Student Support Initiative seeks to create accessible resources for students experiencing potential study-interrupting challenges including:

  • Assisting with purchasing books and additional education materials for students needing assistance
  • Outfitting the Student Support Pantry with food, personal hygiene, laundry, and school supply items
  • Providing scholarships and funds for uninterrupted studies to students experiencing undue financial hardship
  • Assisting with childcare funding for student parents
  • Providing business attire for student's presentations, job interviews and employment through the Tiger Threads Closet

How will the funds raised be utilized?

Like-minded organizations, community leaders, and other individuals will be instrumental in better fortifying our dedication to academic achievement and success.

Funds collected throughout the year will be directed to the Student Support Initiative, funding student support scholarships, emergency funding for uninterrupted studies, assisting with cost of books and educational resources, the student support pantry, which provides food, personal hygiene, laundry, and school supply items, childcare funding assistance, and Tiger Threads: Brenau's workplace readiness closet.

Currently enrolled Brenau University students are eligible to receive support from these initiatives at no cost. Contact the Division of Student Development & Engagement at sde@brenau.edu to learn more.

Through your generosity, it's possible!

Thank you for supporting Brenau's next generation of students as they work to seek a life of personal and professional fulfilment with the Student Support Initiative!

Why are donations necessary?

Student's need for scholarships, funding, resources, supplies, and assistance during extenuating circumstances to continue their studies is a problem the Student Development & Engagement office is dedicated to solving through the many avenues within the Student Support Initiative.

For example, food insecurity is increasingly prevalent on college campuses in the United States and abroad. In response, the Wisconsin HOPE Lab conducted the largest national survey assessing the basic needs of security of 43,000 university students. This study revealed that 36% of university students were food insecure in the 30 days preceding the survey. While there are no studies that assess Georgia students only, currently advocates within the state are working to ensure that every student has access to food and other valuable student resources.
